Women in Engineering

The Extraordinary Women Engineers project (EWEP) is a national initiative to encourage girls to consider pursuing a degree and subsequent career in engineering. The project is led by a coalition of the country’s engineering associations and the American Association of Engineering Societies (AAES), the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and WGBH Educational Foundation.

Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC)

Team mentor Derek Edwards and team captain Trey Chambers attended the 2007 I/ITSEC Conference in Orlando Florida. This conference had 18,000 attendees from around the world. Attendees met and discussed emerging simulation technologies and other engineering challenges.

Our team had a booth there where we presented our ROV program to industry executives and academics. There were several other high school groups from around the world exhibiting also.

Girl Power

Kell Robotics is bringing in pre-high school girls to spend time with the team during the FIRST Robotics build season. These girls get to spend a Saturday participating in the build under the mentorship of high school girls. The high school mentors are a combination of veterans and novices.
